Men’s Health

Men often tolerate pelvic health issues that can be life changing and difficult to talk about. Many feel too embarrassed to seek help or simply do not realise effective treatment is available. At our clinic in Bishop’s Stortford, we offer discreet, expert Men’s Health Physiotherapy focused on the pelvis, bladder, bowel and prostate.

Our experienced team provides a professional and confidential service, supporting men with a wide range of conditions. If you are struggling with symptoms, we encourage you to book an Initial Men’s Health Assessment. Together, we will work to get you back on track.

We help with:

  • Urinary incontinence
  • Overactive bladder
  • Bowel dysfunction
  • Pelvic pain
  • Erectile and sexual dysfunction
  • Prostatitis
  • Pre and post prostatectomy rehabilitation

What to expect at your assessment

During your first appointment, one of our skilled physiotherapists will take time to understand your general health, medical history and how your symptoms affect your daily life. This helps us find the root cause and develop a tailored treatment plan.

While we do not currently use real-time ultrasound, we rely on thorough clinical assessment and specialist knowledge to evaluate pelvic floor muscle strength, tension and function. All assessments are conducted with sensitivity and respect for your privacy.

Following assessment, your physiotherapist will guide you through a personalised treatment programme that may include:

  • Pelvic floor muscle exercises
  • Bladder and bowel retraining
  • Manual therapy
  • Acupuncture
  • Advice on lifestyle changes and increasing physical activity

Our approach is always evidence based and tailored to your individual needs to ensure the best outcomes.

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in, such as shorts or joggers. Bring scan results or a referral if requested, and feel free to note down any questions you’d like to cover.

Not all insurance policies cover Men’s Health physiotherapy. Because it’s still a newer, specialist service, some insurers may not recognise it or include it in your policy. Please check this with your insurer before booking and ensure your authorisation code is valid for Men’s Health. If it isn’t, your insurer may decline the sessions and you would need to pay privately.
