I believe that women’s health issues area often overlooked by many healthcare professionals. Since becoming a mum, I have heard many women share their embarrassing moments. Allowing issues such as incontinence, pelvic pain and sexual dysfunction to become normalised. I want to put a stop to this and say this is NOT normal. There is a lot that can be done to improve these issues. You do not have to live your life with pain, shame or embarrassment.

That’s where my Women’s Health Physiotherapy service can help

In some ways, a women’s health session with myself is a similar experience to any other physiotherapy session. The hour long initial assessment aims to diagnose the issue and create a plan for treatment. The assessment is a safe and private space for us to discuss your current symptoms and concerns, the difference being that we focus on women specific issues.

If necessary, an internal exam may be carried out to assess the pelvic floor muscles’ ability to contract and relax. This exam assesses if any prolapse and scar tissue may be contributing to your symptoms. Your dignity and comfort is of the utmost importance during the assessment. The treatment can be stopped at any time and you are welcome to bring a chaperone. Follow-up treatments may be required, these are generally 30 - 45 minutes long.

1 in 3 women will experience incontinence during their lifetime. These issues are common and can have a huge impact on all areas of your life. A lot of these issues are easy to fix and curable. So if you are ready to improve your quality of life, boost your self-esteem and regain your confidence -  click below and book your women’s health physiotherapy session.
